A client with Essence CIC on left ear is complaining the aid is not satisfactory. It was fitted by another audiologist colleague and I take over to follow-up. Case note showed that he has gone through many fine-tuning sessions.
In fact, he could benefit from the hearing aid over conversation, the main and only concern is he could not use handphone as the aid will whistle, even though the feedback measurement has been run, the amplication seems stable (under feedback area) and further high frequencies sound is been reduced. Able to use phone is crucial as he is running a tourism business. He is considering to return the aid (sigh, after almost nine months) and complained why didn't we recommend a better aid earlier, when he realizes the better feedback management system could potentially solve the problem...
Finally, I have decided to measure the feedback by asking him to hold his handphone to his ear. A surprise feedback curve came out, where we see his complaint is genuine, great area of amplification is under feedback unstable area. After reducing it, he could use the phone without feedback, and he is happily keeping the aid.
Sometime it is important for us to be able to measure feedback, this is one aspect that Essence is superior that Intuis.

Rejoice in connection with family via right hearing aid
Today follow-up with a client (Tow AK) who is fitted with Next 8 Moxi on the right ear. She is a happy 70+ old lady who is happy with the device, the only concern is battery finishing fast at about 10 days. Of course, the Datalogging check showed she used 13 hours per day averagely, which is a good sign- she is using the aid consistently. What impress me is the comment from her daughter, "My mother is now very happy, as she can hear telephone conversation from her overseas sons with this device, she can't hear them with her old Widex hearing aid". What a joy!
